ECDYSIS is a one-shot ttrpg for 1-4 players about revenge, assassination, and self-discovery.
You are assassins, burned by their employer, on a mission to find out who's really pulling the strings. Work your way up through the criminal underworld and burn it from the inside out. And maybe, just maybe, find yourself in the process.
Inspired by franchises like Hitman and John Wick, this is a love letter to the world of assassins, dinner jackets, and far-too-dark casino floors. The mission mechanic is inspired by Grant Howitt's Goblinquest.
ECDYSIS was created as part of the 1100 Word Kitchen Jam 2026, using the words ECHO, MOULT, and MASK

That's such a wonderful reference! I didn't know that ecdysis was the biological term for an insect's molt. I learned something new thanks to your game.
I also absolutely love the visual design. It immediately puts you in the dark atmosphere of being an assassin, while the rules remain surprisingly easy to read and understand.
The system itself is really elegant, and I think I'll have to give it a try soon. I especially like how your character constantly evolves by gaining, losing, or even borrowing traits and skills from the people they encounter. It makes the journey toward revenge feel like a journey of self-discovery as much as one of vengeance.
